information
The Alpine Coffee Shop and Gallery is one of North Wales' most popular Cafes. Situated on Betws-y-Coed railway station at the heart of the Snowdonia National Park it is busy throughout the year. The Coffee Shop, opened in 1973, serves award winning coffee, speciality loose tea and delicious freshly prepared quality food including homemade, fair-trade and free range products. Many of the homemade cakes are baked by the head cook Sue Jones who has worked at the coffee shop for 22 years.
A wide variety of tastes and dietary requirements are catered for including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. Consideration is given to the many walkers and climbers attracted to the stunning scenery of the Snowdonia National Park with a takeaway service which includes a hikers pack.
The Cafe is dog friendly (ask about our 'sausages for dogs' loyalty card) and a great place to meet with friends or business colleagues, celebrate a birthday (perhaps with one of its famous afternoon teas), or just recover after scaling a mountain or a shopping trip. The Alpine is owned by Gwyneth Potgieter and her husband artist Jacha Potgieter. The decor of the cafe both inside and out is lively and imaginative with its creative wrought iron art work and unusual artefacts. A section of the cafe hosts regularly changing exhibitions of quality Fine Art.
