ARTIST'S STATEMENT

In my paintings and photographs recording my experience of the Orangutan Foundation in Borneo I am attempting to share the both wonderful and disturbing time I had working for the foundation. Wonderful because the orangutans are such amazing characters, disturbing because I saw first hand how they suffer at the hand of unscrupulous people and through the innocent support of the general public in which products they choose to purchase. The natural habitat is being logged to grow palm trees for their oil but this does not provide a suitable environment for the orangutans to live in.
